History
Genesis® as a concept was conceived in 2004 when co-founder Koranteng Joshua Yaw took his Basic Training Course leading to a Wood Badge Course in 2005 with the World Organization of the Scout Movement and the Ghana Scout Association.
In the year 2009, Nsawam Scouts Rover Crew in Partnership with Do-Something.org, a non-profit based in the United States, launched its first global Rover Project after a successful Scouting in Slums project in Adoagyiri-Zongo, Nsawam. The project dwelt on issues of Reproductive Health, Teenage Pregnancy, Poverty, HIV/STI, Rape and Related Sexual Abuses, Youth Unemployment and Agriculture. This project involved 14 volunteers form the Nsawam Scouts Rover Crew, one of whom was an Eastern Regional Trainee of the Ghana Scout Association and a participant in the Ghana Challenge 2010, a partnership training camp between Scouting Netherland and the Ghana Scout Association. Genesis® officially supported this project in March 2012.
Genesis® over the years has evolved into a community centered organization receiving attention from other organizations, the latest being ShopLocket.com, an Electronic Commerce (e-Commerce). In May 2012, received a Connect Request from Mr. Dan Kalmar, Community Manager at ShopLocket; ShopLocket is co-founded by Katherine Hague and Andrew Louis.
Genesis® is spearheading the establishment of a pre-tertiary institution as part of Millennium Kings Academy (MiKA), formerly Nsawam Advanced Business College (NABUSCO). The institute is known as the Institute of Business Studies. This Institute is expected to run Diploma in Business Studies courses and National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI) Secretarial Courses.
Another project is the establishment of YouthFM Radio Stations across the regions in Ghana.
Genesis® has also developed the ‘I Abstain’ concept aimed at encouraging responsible sexual life and abstinence among the youth.
